Freedom

Democracy affords us four basic and inalienable rights; freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to assemble, and equal representation before the law. Citizens get to enjoy expressing their opinions openly, going anywhere and doing anything they please, and making (and keeping) their own wealth.

This view sees lockdown as a state-sanctioned siege and violation of basic constitutional rights. Proponents advocate flouting social distancing rules to seize back their individual freedoms, and ‘liberate’ themselves from state control. Proponents include the conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, the US gun rights lobby and alt-right activists The Proud Boys.

Any limit would amount to a violation of the Second Amendment.
