Eternals · Legalisation · ProstitutionProstitution should be legalisedFor1 comment·Oct 28, 2021
I worked with the German police in Hamburg, and met many prostitutes as a result of that work. If we can’t stop prostitution, the German way is the next best thing, with designated safe areas, strong police involvement, health checks and licensing. Pimping is illegal, but brothel landlords are making around 100 euros per day from each woman.
Very few women make the large sums that draw them in, but even the most “successful” are emotionally scarred and struggle to form relationships. “Worthiness” is cited. “Why would anyone want to be with me”. German job centres offer sex work as a viable career for job seekers and 1.3 million German women use prostitution to make ends meet.
Legalisation would surely see the same conditions in UK. It’s far from ideal, but it is much, much better than the way things are now, with trafficked underage women and girls being exploited, no legal or police protection, links to drug abuse, and violence from pimps.
