This comment just proves that you know nothing about Cuba. The Cuban Communist Party, and in fact all parties in Cuba (Yes, there are many) are not able to publically endorse candidates or spend money on elections.
Cuba's elections are arguably far freer from special interests than the USA's are.
Sg91's comment proves that they dont know what fascism is other than that it's bad.
But as for the original question.
There is still considerable competition in China's elections for example, and China also has like 7-8 minor parties as well, so calling it a one-party system is slightly dated, but continuing with the example, because it's the best we've got:
While Candidates are approved in China by the party, there is a huge spectrum of people that fall into the approved range.
Compare it to the USA, there are Democrats that are centre-right classical liberals (modernly referred to as moderate conservatives) and there are Democratic Socialist progressives. Thats a very wide range for one party. It is similar in China.
Question is loaded. One Party systems can function extremely democratically, some moreso than the USA's elections for example.
