At the end of Inception, Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) returns home to his children after spending a long time in the dream world. The final shot shows the top spinning, but it never reveals it falls over or not (if it keeps spinning it means he is in a dream). The director, Christopher Nolan, has been constantly asked about the ending of Inception. However, he explains how he doesn’t tell fans his interpretation about his movies as viewers then see this as the truth and forget that it is up to the audience. In one of his most revealing discussions, an [interview in Wired](https://www.wired.co.uk/article/inception-director-lives-the-dream), Nolan claims that “people seem to be noticing the things they’re meant to notice, the things that are meant to either create ambiguities or push you in one direction or another”. When asked about the ending he explains how viewpoints differ on whether you have children or not, most parents like to believe Cobb gets back to his kids. Nolan also states that “the most important emotional thing about the top spinning at the end is that Cobb is not looking at it. He doesn’t care.”
