**TL;DR - Baby its Cold Outside is a Christmas classic and is not offensive if it is taken as a festive song in context of the time** - For me, this is an example of political correctness gone mad! There is always an annual review of this Christmas Classic and what it implies every December. But it is exactly that, a Christmas song. A song that gets people feeling festive and excited for Christmas. - The lyrics for sure are questionable in todays world, “Say what’s in this drink?’ Does seem to imply something very dark in nature. This lyric however, about what is in the drink was referred to as what alcohol, not what drug or substance! This song has to be looked at in context. - I don’t believe this song is something that is influencing society in a bad way, it is played for one month a year! - With this, when she sings “say what’s in this drink” there is important context to note. During the 1940’s when this song was written [it was a standard joke] (https://www.vox.com/identities/2016/12/19/13885552/baby-its-cold-outside-feminist-date-rape-romantic). It was used when people wanted an excuse for doing something they knew was wrong but wanted to anyway. In this context then, really it doesn’t feel all as offensive as our 2021 goggles would see it. - The original song labelled the male part [Wolf and female role Mouse] (https://time.com/5739183/baby-its-cold-outside-consent/). Some would look at it as a strange power dynamic, but for me, it s just a playful duet between two people at Christmas. It is only offensive if you over analyse it and I don’t believe it was made to be over analysed. - For me, sure the song poses its problems, however I don’t think it is offensive. It provides a festive feeling that is is no way offensive or badly impactful.

This song, at least implicitly, teaches that men should not take “No” seriously from women and can try to convince them to do things they, at least initially, do not want to.
