These statements (#MaC) form part of the Morality as Cooperation Quiz What is morality? Where does it come from, and how does it work? And how and why do moral values vary, between individuals, and across cultures? The theory of ‘morality as cooperation’ (MAC) argues that morality is best understood as a collection of biological and cultural solutions to the problems of cooperation recurrent in human social life. MAC draws on evolutionary game theory to argue that, because there are many types of cooperation, there will be many types of morality. These include: family values, group loyalty, reciprocity, heroism, deference, fairness and property rights. The state is a violent system of oppression, it is very rarely ever brave to die for its interest.

Brave to die for a country is not brave. Brave is one of a kind, how can you be one of a kind if you die in comfortable acceptable way. In this sense I’m not saying the physical ailments they experienced were easy but the knowledge if they pass they would’ve left legacy. What about those that don’t have that. Those that would go against the ideas because they saw society was wrong. If someone stood up against the majority because the majority was wrong they’d be considered brave personally in my eyes.

A) "Everyone speaks of *dying* for their country; but your country wants you to *kill* for your country." B) I'm not aware of any large-scale military conflict the US military was recently involved in that I would consider to be founded upon the defense of American values, as defined by the Constitution of our Constitutional Republic. Thus, to view any "bravery" in the conflicts we've been a part of as a defining characteristic would not be constructive.

To be willing to lay down your life for ANYTHING is the height of bravery. Soldiers make HARSH sacrifices. But they are not the only ones.

To put your life down for any cause that you truly believe in, is brave. No matter the cause, if you truly believe and are willing to put your life on the line weather that is right or wrong is besides the point. As a soldier you should be praised for your efforts in the fight for your country and community.

"For your country" Not "For the government". Putting your life on the line for anything is the ultimate bravery.

Their actions are remembered and honored as examples of extraordinary bravery and patriotism, serving as inspirational figures for future generations. Protection of Values: Willingness to make the ultimate sacrifice for one's country often stems from a desire to protect national values, freedoms, and way of life. This act of bravery reflects a profound belief in and dedication to the principles that define the nation. Military and First Responders: Soldiers, firefighters, police officers, and other first responders routinely face life-threatening situations to protect their country and its citizens. Their willingness to confront danger and potentially sacrifice their lives is a testament to their exceptional bravery. Against: Questionable Contexts: While the willingness to lay down one’s life is brave, the context matters. In some situations, such as unjust wars or oppressive regimes, the act might be seen differently. The morality and purpose behind the sacrifice can influence whether it is viewed as the height of bravery or a tragic loss. Alternative Forms of Bravery: Bravery can manifest in many forms, not just in the willingness to die for one’s country. Acts such as standing up against injustice, advocating for peace, and making significant personal sacrifices for the well-being of others also require immense courage.
