In the 2020 election, getting out of the middle-east was a litmus test to even being a candidate. Trump's plan was to get us out by May. Biden's plan was to give more time for preparation.
Even prior to this, every candidate ran on "getting us out of the middle-east". All of them wanted to wait "until the timing was right", which was why we had never actually left. There was no good time or good way to leave. But we have to leave at some point. 20 years to accomplish little more than to further entrench our image as self-righteous world-police or as occupying countries for oil and opium.

I support the US getting out of Afghanistan, but the way Biden did it was foolish and disastrous. Americans are left there without support. American supplies were left to be taken over by the Taliban. The Biden administration severely underestimated the Taliban's (terrorist's) ability to take over the country. All of the actions of the US forces for the last 20 years are for naught.
