Although the British are clearly major contenders in this realm, one cannot ignore the healthy competition from the Chinese and the Americans. Britains contribute a considerable tourist population of Spain each year with over 18 million. I think this is a great way to help some sector currently are having a wrong time. On the other hand, Britains are not well portrayed as a good tourist, but I don't think it's fair to englobe them all. It's a complex topic because we all come from different culture, where we have other traditions, and personally, I would like going to another country and being pointed as "bad" unfairly. Of course, there are rude and unrespected people, but it's not an aisled situation only related to the British.

**TL;DR - We can’t tarnish a whole nation with one brush, but we must recognise how this stereotype comes from somewhere** I think sometimes we expect too much of tourists in our country when we forget we are the same when we go abroad. Hear me out here: **Expecting Too Much** When you live in a city or town for a long time you start to know the hidden societal rules. For example which side of the escalator to stand, what restaurants are the best, what landmarks are a rip off and where is up-and-coming. Why do we expect tourists then to know all of these things when they are visiting for the first time? There is some sort of disregard that maybe some tourists WANT to see those sights that you have become accustom to. Brits in general, but especially in London, just want to get on with what they are off doing and often disregard tourists, however this can’t be said for the whole of Britain. Tourists are naturally a slight cliche in many ways but I don't think we can lump 'All Brits' in the same category. **Self Awareness** British tourists are often loud, obnoxious and (for sure) expect the world to speak our language. I think this is one of the reasons why we are labelled as one of the worst tourists. Many don’t learn even a few words in a native language before going abroad - we just expect English to be spoken. As well as this, I think one of the reasons they get this label is due to sporting fans. Sporting fans are like another breed of tourist where the emotion of the game maybe adds to the sometimes appalling or less than good behaviour. **Respect** One thing is that Brits are quick to be self-deprecating. I think as a nation, we are quick to focus on how bad we must be, when possibly we are generalising ourselves. I don’t think there are any overall General Worst Tourist, it is dependant not only on the tourist visiting, but what country they are visiting too.
