TL;DR Colonialism wasn’t all bad, especially for the British. It is a common narrative to suggest that only the British Elite benefited from colonialism, however this is not the case, in fact even those not directly involved in colonialism have benefited and these benefits continue to trickle down today. Colonialism can be said to have fuelled the Industrial Revolution, which saw huge economic growth within the UK, not only did this mean improved infrastructure but it also meant increased health and wellbeing across the nation.

Britain is always painted as heroic, colonisers such as Christopher Columbus are constantly glorified, and the history curriculum in general is very Eurocentric and one-sided, hence failing to expose the inherently diabolical nature of colonialism. The British Empire and colonialism are nothing to be proud of.

Historically, colonial dominance has included massacres such as murder, torture, and abuse of innocent people. However, pointing out these wrongs is inadequate to justify how colonialism is wrong in a unique way. Murder, suffering, and slavery are all incorrect, regardless of whether they occur during colonial rule. When we think about colonization, we also consider how it has impacted indigenous peoples, and the results have been largely negative. However, we're likely missing something. Colonization may have a detrimental effect on colonizers, their descendants, and more recent settlers whose ancestors may not have been part of the colonization's early stages.

UMMM?? There are actually people who think Colonialism was ok?? Going over to another country..say like New Guinea , people who have never seen a white man....raping their land and all its resources, stealing their property and possessions, killing and torturing the men, women and children, wiping out their religions, destroying their culture, their beliefs, setting fire to their buildings, churches and houses, then forcing them to accept your beliefs, your religion, your way of thinking or be killed.
