**With it's unique delivery system, wonderful flavour, and diverse variety of uses, corn is the finest of the vegetables**
- Corn comes on a cob, an incredibly organised and convenient delivery system. Nice little rows, contained packaging.
- Corn can exist in a number of different states. Corn can be popped, boiled, steamed, blended, baked, etc.
- Popcorn. I mean, c'mon! Popcorn is a delicious snack, so quick and easy, and even fun to watch it being made... how much fun is it to watch an apple pie being baked for an hour?
- Corn exists in a variety of beautiful colors.
From all of this it is clear that *"Corn is the finest of the vegetables"*

**Nutrition-wise, one could do better than corn.**
- Corn is definitely very delicious, and I also appreciate the different states it can exist in. However, from a nutrition standpoint, corn is probably not the finest of vegetables.
- Corn is full of [health benefits](https://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/corn-health-benefits), including:
- Fiber, which helps with weight control
- Increased gut health
- Vitamin C, which is protective against cancer and heart disease
- Magnesium
- Potassium
- Lutein and zeaxanthin, which can prevent cataracts and boost eye health more generally
- (Blue or purple corn contain more of these benefits than yellow corn, since they carry more antioxidants.)
- However, corn is a starchy vegetable, which means it has sugar and carbohydrates which can raise blood sugar levels.
- Corn also can get contaminated by fungi that give off cancer-causing mycotoxins that can also lower the immune systems.
- As well, corn contains antinutrients that make it difficult for your body to absorb nutrients as well as it ought to.
- Other vegetables contain many more health benefits without the risks, such as [broccoli](https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/foods/broccoli#bottom-line), which is extremely high in beneficial compounds and nutrients and is not as starchy as corn.
