Our data is spread around the world with different organisations harvesting it for different intentions. Some good, some not so! We should have, as individuals, more rights and knowledge of how our data is used and where it goes. We have all had that feeling right, when we have had a conversation with someone about something and then all of a sudden it appears on your search feed? This can’t be okay. I understand that, just like surveys and questionnaires, it is good for companies to know what to target or advertise. This makes sense. However it is the lack of consent to our data being spread around that I take issue with. The use of our data should be a clear right of the individual and more should be done to protect it. The ability to manipulate our data and influence our voting, purchasing and thoughts is something that is very scary.
