**TL;DR - Fast Five was the perfect film to end the Fast and Furious franchise. It was satisfying for the watcher as characters returned to do one last job before being able to retire for good.** Fast and Furious is a long running film franchise that is mainly focused on illegal street racing, spies and heists with fast cars. This franchise began in 2001 and is now heading to the 10th film in the franchise being released in 2022. However, I believe that this franchise should have finished after Fast Five. Fast Five is set in Rio de Janeiro. It follows Brian and Mia who, after breaking Mia’s brother out of custody, are moving from border to border in order to evade the authorities. The film itself seems to be a perfect ending to the Fast and Furious franchise. The film sees previous popular characters all working together in order to complete one big job and retire from the game for good. How better to end a franchise than for all the characters to come together and complete one final job, stealing a drug lord’s money, resulting in their freedom. This a sense of finality. A happy ending in which the characters you have followed through the franchise, can finally be happy and not live life in an environment of uncertainty. Dom finds love after losing his previous girlfriend. Two of the characters from previous films fall in love. Brian and Mia find out they are pregnant. A drug lord gets his comeuppance due to the Fast and Furious team stealing his money. Also, there is an extremely satisfying ending in which a federal agent realises the Fast and Furious team is good and lets them go after a huge car chase involving a big safe full of money. All the characters get an equal split of the money with the film ending with a flashforward to their lives post Rio. A flashforward to an extremely happy and peaceful ending, a complete turnaround from the lives they led before.
