Fresh orange juice (OJ) is better with the bits, or orange pulp, that gathers at the bottom of the carton because it tastes better and it feels more substantial when you have it for breakfast, compared to its bitless counterpart.
Even though I know both options are very sugary, in my head drinking OJ with the little pieces of orange in it feels healthier and the texture makes me feel more like I am eating healthy fruit, rather than just drinking something sugary (1).
Also, it could be argued that bitted OJ promotes less waste from the industry if the pulp-less OJ manufacturing process just throws away the pulp. I currently have been finding it difficult to find out what the companies do with this waste.
All in all, I think fresh OJ with the bits is much better than without the bits.

I don’t like fruit and I never have, so for me, drinking orange juice with bits in is not ideal. I personally don’t see the appeal of wanting to drink solid bits of food, as someone who doesn't even drink fruity cocktails and removes all the fruit from a class of Pimm's, this seems a bit bizarre to want to have bits of food in an otherwise smooth drink. Orange juice without bits is therefore much more superior, and simply much more pleasant to drink.

While I love fruit and all things fruity, I feel the same way - where having pieces of fruit in my juice (or any other drink) is concerned.
I suspect it has something to do with how I feel about texture - both where drink and food are concerned. More specifically, I believe that drinks should be smooth (and not textured at all in any way), while eating certain types of textured foods are okay.

The bits of pulp in orange juice are incredibly annoying, they get stuck in your teeth and on the tongue. If the bits were truly the better option, an alternative probably would not have been created in the first place.
Restaurants are also more inclined to sell orange juice without bits (for example, Mcdonalds is one of the world’s leading fast-food restaurants and only offers smooth orange juice) therefore smooth must be the superior option.
