I mean, it's possible to form a strong attachment to anyone/anything. And if someone is so inclined, that attachment can become romantic.

If it's possible to fall in love with fictional characters -- a more common occurrence than one might think -- then it stands to reason that a person could fall in love with a robot. Give the robot a personality, likes/dislikes, maybe a life story, and you have what is essentially a character come to life.

Also why won't Brynjolf love me ;_;

Whilst a person may be able to fall in love with a robot, it’s not possible to have a natural reciprocation of those feelings.

  • Love is a human emotion. Just like anger and happiness to give an example. Robots are manmade objects and do not have the capacity to experience human emotions. Whilst humans can fall in love with inanimate objects, a concept labelled ‘Objectum-sexuality’. It is not possible for these feelings to be reciprocated. Even if love robots are programmed to give the impression of such. This would not be a natural human emotion.

Super interesting!
That might be an extension of the Turing test... Whether a robot could fool a human into believing they were in love with them. 😛
