**Whilst Starmer is not my choice of Labour leader, to replace him would require a democratic process**
**For**
- Starmer is damaging to Labour's values and reputation.
- He comes across as unconfident and has been disappointing in not committing to, and even backtracking from policies such as [nationalising energy companies](https://www.independent.co.uk/business/keir-starmer-rules-out-nationalising-big-six-energy-firms-b1927282.html).
- He is dishonest and has broken all of his ['10 pledges'](https://novaramedia.com/2021/09/29/keir-starmer-is-just-as-dishonest-as-boris-johnson/) used in his leadership campaign.
- He is propelling Labour [infighting](https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/nov/22/labour-infighting-inquiry-damaging-starmers-position).
- His ideology has taken Labour so far away from its original values.
- Recent [polls](https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/trackers/should-keir-starmer-remain-as-leader-of-the-labour-party) show the majority feel Starmer should be replaced, and those in support of his position is decreasing significantly.
- His policies are [undemocratic](https://thehill.com/opinion/campaign/498512-the-electoral-college-is-not-democratic-nor-should-it-be), with his advocacy of the introduction of an [electoral college](https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-58689884)
**Against**
- Starmer was elected not appointed - so his position is legitimate and democratic
- To be replaced he would have to be voted out by the people or stand down of his own will
- There is a lack of viable replacements, and those who are potential candidates may refuse the role and feel they are better placed or can make a bigger difference in their local roles as MPs or mayors

Labour need to figure out who they are as a group, where they stand on various issues and what their policies are. If the party continues to be split so much over various issues, it may suit them best to separate from the party outright.
If they want my vote, they need to start showing some consistency when it comes to their manifestos.
