**tl;dr – Disney should have adjusted the "Lion King" remake's script to account for the characters and story in "The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride," because fans want a *proper* sequel.** The "Lion King" remake is [getting a prequel based on Mufasa's story](https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/disney-lion-king-prequel-barry-jenkins), and while fans are excited, they are also anticipating a remake of "The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride," which starred Simba's daughter, Kiara. But if we *do* get our TLK 2 remake, it's going to face the same criticism as the original animated version did: A major plot hole. Where did Zira and the Outsiders come from? Simba says they were banished from the Pride Lands for being loyal to Scar, but they weren't present at all in TLK. The fans want a sequel remake, but Disney is going to have to address this plot hole one way or another if they plan on giving it to us. The best way would have just been to adjust the TLK remake's story from the start – it really wouldn't have taken much. Just have Zira and a few lionesses there who actually like Scar. That's it. But now, they're going to have to *significantly* alter TLK 2's story to account for why Zira wasn't in TLK – which will ruin the integrity of TLK 2's beautiful story. Obviously, the plot hole wasn't addressed in the original TLK because Disney didn't have a sequel planned at that time – heck, [they didn't even think the movie was going to be a success](https://www.tor.com/2015/06/19/the-lion-king-was-the-most-unlikely-success-story-you-will-ever-hear/). But with the remake, Disney *has* the material to accommodate for TLK 2's story – they just didn't use it. Why, Disney? Are you ashamed of TLK 2 because it was a direct-to-video sequel? Plot hole aside, it was great – the characters are interesting and lovable, and the story is romantic and action-packed. Were you afraid that the TLK remake would face box office failure if you changed the script to include Zira? Forget money for once, and just focus on the art of storytelling. The fans want a proper remake of TLK 2. Disney let us down by not accounting for that when they scripted the TLK remake.
