There is no such thing as an 'unbiased' person - everyone has bias or prejudices in some ways, but we must learn to interrogate and eliminate their ability to impact us. However, science is often lauded for its apolitical objectivity. Yet when scientists are human, this just allows for their own xenophobia to persist under the guise of progress.

• Social Darwinism has been used to justify classism and xenophobia
• Science is commonly misused and misinterpreted in order to justify discrimination
• The arguments of extremist groups seem less radical when allied with falsified or misrepresented science, and so are more likely to be coopted by politicians
