Well, of course. But why the focus on polyandry instead of polygamy? Polyandry is covered under polygamy. Polygamy is the thing that should be legal.

Besides the general idea that basically anything should be legal with regards to what consenting adults do in the bedroom, there's a bit extra with regards to polyandry. History has its share of polygyny, which creates strong and often violent hierarchies amongst men. Such hierarchies amongst men are responsible for a great deal of social ills. Polyandry, in many ways, does the opposite. It dissolves male hierarchies, but doesn't necessarily create similar hierarchies amongst women. While it's conjecture on my part, I would argue it may do more to reduce hierarchies amongst men than even monogamy does.

**Commentary** - _Polygamy_ refers to the practice or custom of having more than one wife or husband at the same time. - Under this umbrella-term includes the lesser discussed _polyandry_, describing specifically a woman having more than one husband at one time. Because of this, polyandry is [more common](https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=rReZ1o1gjPYC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ge_summary_r&cad=0#v=snippet&q=polyandry&f=false) in societies with scarce environmental resources. - Scholars say polyandry in [Asia](https://www.unl.edu/rhames/Starkweather-Hames-Polyandry-published.pdf) "has allowed families in areas of scarce farmable land to hold agricultural estates together. The marriage of all brothers in a family to the same wife allows plots of family-owned land to remain intact and undivided". - **Whilst these factors may not apply everywhere, it is important to consider this question without a purely western, first-world mindset**.
