The majority would be far better off.

• There are many methods of achieving economic equality, such as higher minimum wages, redistribution of wealth etc.
• In the vast majority of these methods, such as higher taxation, would only result in wealth being taken from the very highest earners such as the top 1%. This means the other 99% of lower earners would not be worse off, but many of them much better off.
• Even if one does not take the term 'everyone' literally, to argue that even the majority would be worse off is statistically impossible.
• If one took the median wealth of all the people as the goal of economic wealth equality, everyone with below that average would benefit from economic equality and gain wealth.
• The world's eight richest people have same wealth as poorest 50%.
• For further comparison, to be in the top 1% of earners in the US one would have an annual wage of over $737,697, compared to the other 99% with an average annual wage of $50,107.
• The top 1%'s average wage is exponentially increasing, unlike that of the bottom 99%.
