Ethnic nations of any form are debatably harmful, regardless of their origins. Ethnic groups can be represented (democratically, for example) without their own, exclusive states. Israel, although _the_ Jewish state, is, naturally, representative of _Israel_, not the world's Jewish population. Antisemitism comes from religious intolerance; Zionism is not inherent to the Jewish religion, [formulated](https://www.history.com/topics/middle-east/zionism) slightly more than a century ago after nearly 4000 years of Judaism as a religion. Many diasporic populations (notably, [Haredim](https://www.myjewishlearning.com/article/haredim-charedim/), the majority of whom are fundamentally opposed to a Jewish ethnostate) oppose the Israeli state while remaining attached to Judaism itself (myself included). Ultimately, anti-Zionism, at its core, is purely political and areligious, and thus cannot be conflated with antisemitism.

you can hate the institution and hate the government without hating Jewish people. I hate what Israel is doing, especially in regards to Palestine, but I don't hate Jewish people. Jewish people deserve rights and happiness just like everyone else, but so do Palestinians.

Zionsim is an ideology whereby there is a Jewish state, where the majority of the inhabitants are Jewish. The reasoning behind this ideology's inception was that anti-semitism was rife, and the Jews didn't feel safe in Europe. Where is the logical place for a Jewish state? Their holy land and their homeland, Judea. I think if you don't want Jews to have a place where they can feel safe then you must hate them.
