Road trips are pretty amazing; though environmentally and also just for other reasons, maybe a biking trip is an equally awesome, if not better, way to go?

• Road trips are a good way to cover a lot of ground but also see many landscapes along the way. There's a fairly rich history, at least in America, of The Road Trip. The environmental costs could be heavy, though, if the culture of the road trip continues.

• Why not take a bike trip? (Or walk?) Obviously much more strenuous and time consuming, but worth it, in my opinion, to live closer to how our species lived for hundreds of thousands of years.

• Using your body, engaging in more movement than you would by sitting in a vehicle, will enable you to literally embody and understand the environment more deeply.

• It is, of course, monumentally harder when walking or biking to factor in sleeping and meal arrangements, even and maybe especially if you try it the camping way, where every night you camp in a different place.
