**Road trips are pretty amazing; though environmentally and also just for other reasons, maybe a biking trip is an equally awesome, if not better, way to go?** - Road trips are a good way to cover a lot of ground but also see many landscapes along the way. There's a fairly rich history, at least in America, of [The Road Trip](https://time.com/3998949/road-trip-history/). The [environmental costs](https://www.rei.com/blog/travel/green-road-trips) could be heavy, though, if the culture of the road trip continues. - Why not take a bike trip? (Or walk?) Obviously much more strenuous and time consuming, but worth it, in my opinion, to live closer to how our species [lived for hundreds of thousands of years](https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/article/i-have-walked-11000-miles-from-africa-to-southeast-asia-this-is-what-i-have-learned-feature). - Using your body, engaging in more movement than you would by sitting in a vehicle, will enable you to literally [embody and understand](https://greatergood.berkeley.edu/article/item/what_happens_when_we_reconnect_with_nature) the environment more deeply. - It is, of course, monumentally harder when walking or biking to factor in sleeping and meal arrangements, even and maybe especially if you try it the camping way, where [every night you camp in a different place](https://exploringwild.com/where-to-sleep-camp-bicycling-across-america/).
