Serena is not a dynamic character. It is very easy to forget she is a cruel, selfish person because of the occasional acts of kindness towards June. Serena allowed her husband to rape June. Then she stole the resulting child. Serena’s delusional sense of sense entitlement is unparalleled. It triumphs any sympathy an audience might feel about her getting shot and becoming infertile. Serena was instrumental in robbing people of their human rights. She is incredibly selfish - to a level where it is abnormal. She is unfeeling. She held June’s hands when Fred raped her. This was when she was pregnant. She deserves no sympathy from any audience. Serena came up with the concept of Gilead. She traumatized hundreds of people. She is one of the coldest and most hateful people in Gilead.
