I definitely agree with this statement. Sex work has been around for thousands of years, meaning that the market for sex work has hardly diminished at all throughout history. From a basic supply and demand perspective, sex work provides a supply for the demand of, well, sex. However, it’s important to note that a lot of sex work is unregulated and can be particularly dangerous for the sex workers themselves. So, I’d say that sex work is absolutely valid, but the negative attitudes and stigmas surrounding sex work are what is keeping it from becoming a safer job. I understand why some may believe that sex work is not a valid way to earn money, but I personally view it as physical labor– in other words, using your body to provide a product. In many ways, this is similar to physical labor jobs such as construction, roofing, trade jobs, etc. Just because a job such as sex work may have more “blurred” morals to some does not mean it is any less valid. I find it hypocritical to argue that sex work should be banned on a moral basis considering that some of the most trafficked websites on the internet are related to pornography. In America, millions of people visit pornography websites every single day; they are indulging in the sex work industry even if they are unaware of it. Do I think that all pornography is ethical? Absolutely not. However, to label a product immoral in the public eye while possibly indulging in it in private is textbook hypocrisy. At the end of the day, sex work has been so stigmatized from a moral, political, and religious standpoint that it has become more unsafe as the years go on. I do think it is possible to change the public view of sex work. If we can find ways to regulate it, normalize it, and educate others, hopefully we can make sex work safer for both the workers and consumers.

Is it immoral? Absolutely. Is it valid and should it be legal? Yes. Just like every other sin we allow, making an exception for this one is hypocritical.

The book "Pleasure Activism" discusses the liberating consequences of giving and accepting pleasure into your lives. In a world where sexual acts are still associated with taboo, Brown argues that relieving yourself from this self-hatred and shame, in regards to sexual fantasies and acts, will uplift you as a human being (who is performing a fulfilling act) as well as the rest of the community. She and I are talking about the emotional and physical connection that produces fulfillment within one's body and mind. What I am trying to say is that having sex is great for yourself and for the community, because when you open yourself up and release shame in yourself, you release the shame and judgment you hold upon others. Therefore, sex work is not sinful, as sex itself is not sinful. It is a pleasurable act that should be celebrated and perceived without judgment.

Is it immoral? I can see the case for it. Is it a valid way to make money? I mean, you're providing something that people value. But I definitely think it's not the place of the state to dictate morality in scenarios where others rights are not being infringed upon. Immoral or not, it ought be legalized.

Can we truly differentiate which sex worker is voluntary, and which is not? And even the sex worker is voluntary, does her (his) prostitution is a result of sexually abusive upbringing?

Immoral is a challenging idea in this regard. If society deems it immoral, likely it’s immoral. However, just because society says something is immoral doesn’t always work on every case. For example: A woman who must do sexual acts in order to earn her freedom? Would you say that in itself is immoral? Or perhaps there’s a self sacrifice that must be done in order to provide for others. It’s challenging to say. Namely it comes down to the person and the society. If that person acts justly and does what would be “right” in their eyes then it’s in their favor. Objectivity is blurred in this question. Which makes it a great idea.

When I know how powerful is a human being, there is nothing to be afraid for our brother and sister. This said, they can do whatever they want on this subject. Again, not the crazy stuff I've seen but the straight stuff I mean.
