Depends on where you're coming from. If a man is being questioned about what he's doing in a neighborhood, or is being asked to search a veichle for no lawful reason, then this statement makes no sense. If there is a perfect reason such as a warrant for their arrest, or things like that. Then yes they should be detained. But resisting arrest should not equal death. There are more whites that resist arrest and get called mentally ill, but yet when its black its "thug" or "gangster". Im not saying any races are in the right or wrong for resisting, but the truth is resist should not equal death. Tazing is an option. and if that doesn't work, batons can be a way to go. Unless you have someone pointing a gun at an officer, or has any type of weapon, There should be no reason for taking lethal force. Reform needs to happen. not defunding. The people who serve in blue I appreciate very much. But if you're going to tell me 6 months of training is enough to tell someone is a good officer, that is completely wrong. I think society would be better if people were more obedient to authority. But with the caveat that this would only improve society when the society is democratic. Political protest is not a form of civil disobedience. It is allowed under law. Or put another way authority allows political protest, that is peaceful. Given this, it is possible to create a demonstration that demonstrates views and strenth of feeling that is contrary to what policies or actions, those in authority have deemed allowable or unallowable. You can also create pressure groups, or write to those in authority to express your discontent. Whether those who are discontented are creating a demonstration, pressure group, or whatever form their discontent is given voice, it is usually permissable in a democratic society. Avoiding illegal methods of changing society and accepting the rules of society, means that more people will learn and practice expressing themselves in channels, such as legal protests, letters to their MP's and pressure groups. this would bring about more change rather and less rule breakers. Changes that might well benefit society. For instance, in the uk many many people, smoke and love, marijuana. They smoke it illegally, as it is illegal in the uk to be in possession of the substance. Yet recently since lockdown, while walking down the street in city centre, I can often smell it being smoked. It is commonly smoked. If all these people where to obey authority and instead channel their discontent into letters to their MP's I dare say, that it would be presently legal in the uk. I am not trying to divert the debate into a argument about Marijuana. My point is: with greater obedience to the law, comes greater motivation to bring about change, and greater familiarity and skill with methods of doing so. This leads to a greater likelihood of change coming about; changes that conforms to what more people want.
