Spain is one of the countries that follows a Mediterranean-style diet. This diet emphasizes protein and healthy fats. These vitamins are beneficial to the heart, making Spain one of the countries with the lowest risk of heart disease. The Mediterranean diet has significant benefits for our health because it improves cholesterol levels, antioxidant function, blood pressure, the immune system, blood coagulation, and even the liver system. In Spain, people have relatives who live in small towns or villages, and they sometimes bring them traditional goods as gifts. And it's a well-known fact that conventional home-made goods are still superior to manufactured goods. Spanish food is one of the healthiest food in the world because it contains natural products such as meat, fish and vegetables, and they are cooked in ways that better our health. 1- https://rightcasa.com/heres-why-spain-is-voted-the-healthiest-country-in-the-world-in-2019/ 2- https://www.barcelonasegwaytour.com/spanish-eating-habits-healthy/

I always thought Spanish food, cooked in so much oil, so often fried, was pretty unhealthy, but just saw that Spain has one of the highest life expectancies in Europe at 83.45 - higher than Italy, France and the UK.

frying is not inherently unhealthy it depends on what you cook it in if you use an unstable oil like sunflower or soybean then its unhealthy even worse if they are repeatedly heated which is unfortunately how its extracted.

An important distinction must be made when defining 'Spanish food' as although traditional recipes may be healthy, the tourist 'classics' and commercial tapas can be extremely *unhealthy*. For example, potatas bravas, croquettes, calamari and the sickly sweet churros to finish are all lacking in nutrients and high in calories making Spain an unhealthy cuisine.
