**Sexuality isn’t something that is polarised, it is a spectrum and therefore people can be attracted to more than one gender.**
• Bisexuality has been invalidated with some people saying “it’s just a phase” and to “pick a side”, but this is not only offensive but also perpetuates the idea that heterosexuality and homosexuality are the only sexual orientations that exist and are acceptable.
• Another common misconception is that people think that when someone who is bisexual enters a relationship, they are then either straight or gay. However, this is not always true, just because someone is in a relationship with one sex does not mean that the attraction towards another sex disappears.
• The movement [#StillBisexual](https://stillbisexual.com) supports that bisexual people are bisexual regardless of being in a relationship.

From a practical, language perspective: I've always had the opinion that we should stop treating bisexual as something different from straight, or gay.
I feel like being bisexual should mean that you're both homosexual AND heterosexual, rather than neither.

Based on existing research like that of the Kinsey Institute I disagree. I would even go as far as saying that the Kinsey scale also tells us a more nuanced story. We cannot overlook behaviours that go beyond labels.
For those who may not be familiar with the scale, more about it here:

Was totally a very bitter gay person that made this pole because to be honest it is only gay people that say this. Why would you even need to debate this? Did someone like myself turn you down?

Please check out our [Guidelines](https://www.parlia.com/article/rules-of-parlia) for conversation. We're trying to advance the debate, not shut it down. Just 'stating' something is a thing doesn't make the case for it.
