**The only times when a one night stand is wrong is when it happens without consent and when there is a mutual agreement between 2 or more people not to have sex with other people is violated** - We live in a society that is a lot more sex positive than previous generations. A cultural shift that has become more accepting of casual sex, polyamory and the spectrum of sexualities. This may be evidenced through more representation and discussion in popular culture. - The [British Sex Survey] (https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2014/sep/28/british-sex-survey-2014-nation-lost-sexual-swagger) tells us that 49% of those surveyed had a one night stand and 30% of 25-34 year olds had a one night stand with someone they met online. This survey took place in 2014, before the increased popularity of dating apps like Tinder and Hinge, and interactions on social media became the norm. It is possible that for the next survey the numbers may be a lot more different. - One night stands enable individuals to determine whether they like sex and how it can be a positive experience for them. It allows for sex (and more importantly sexual pleasure) without a prolonged attachment for those not seeking a relationship. - Demonising one night stands only leads to them happening in secret and more dangerously (for instance, without protection and where the lines of consent become blurry).

But on the other hand it also totally debases sex to a basically a commodity, like watching a film or eating a steak. Because of that it then leads to far higher rates of abuse and violence because no trust has been built between the two individuals. Demonising ONS doesn't necessarily make them happen in secret, but rather incentivises sex to be in a loving, committed and trusting relationship, i.e. a marriage.
