**TL;DR: Tights get a bad rep – even though they adjust to your body _way_ better than jeans do** • They stay up better. As long as you get the right size of tights, you won’t need to pull them up (or down) as much as you might for jeans. Tights come with an inbuilt belt in the form of the elastic waistband, which can sit wherever you find most comfortable. • They fit better. A [study by Invista](https://sourcingjournal.com/denim/denim-brands/study-finding-the-right-fit-still-difficult-for-most-women-mv-96672/) found that 48% of women find it difficult to buy well-fitting jeans – I would argue that buying well-fitting tights is a significantly simpler feat due to their flexibility. Because of the high percentage of spandex in tights, they adjust and curve to fit your body far better than rigid denim can. • They keep you at just the right temperature. Some tights incorporate [temperature-adjusting technology](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1025866/These-tights-promise-cool-heat-Too-good-true-We-test.html): when it’s hot, they keep you cool; and when it’s cold, they keep you warm. • They dry quicker. It can take between [4 and 24 hours for denim to dry](https://littleupgrades.com/how-long-air-dry-clothes/#:~:text=biggest%20questions%20is%E2%80%A6-,How%20long%20does%20it%20take%20to%20air%2Ddry%20clothes%3F,dry%20outside%20in%20good%20weather.) depending on whether you are indoors or out, and they tend to go very stiff in the process. Getting caught in the rain or splashed by a puddle whilst wearing jeans means that you’ll likely be uncomfortable for the rest of the day. In contrast, tights only take between [5 and 30 minutes](https://www.wikihow.com/Dry-Pantyhose-in-a-Hurry#:~:text=Hang%20the%20pantyhose%20to%20let%20them%20air%20dry.&text=The%20drying%20process%20should%20take%2020%20to%2030%20minutes.) to dry, meaning that you can get on with your day!

**TL;DR** - **Sports/compression tights/leggings are some of the most comfortable things to wear** In fine, compression tights are lycra leggings that are normally either when doing sport or in the recovery process. They have the [benefits] (https://www.byrdie.com/what-do-compression-leggings-do-5089356) of increasing blood flow to muscles, helping with balance and reducing soreness. These are the simple benefits of wearing compression tights. However, this does little to encapsulate the reality of wearing them. They are exceptionally comfortable as there is not the same level of excess material.

**TL;DR -- Shorts in the summer and sweatpants in the winter are better than both.** Shorts keep you from getting too hot. Jeans are heavy and thick, which isn't good in the heat. Tights are thin, but that fabric is constantly rubbing up against your skin, causing friction and heat. Sweatpants are loose, warm, and cozy. They don't scratch you with tough fabric like jeans, and they give you room to breathe unlike tights, which are constricting. Long live comfortwear!

**TL;DR: Tights are uncomfortable and inconvenient!** As someone who has worn tights throughout my academic life as part of compulsory uniform rules, I can vouch that tights are not as comfortable as jeans! In the colder months, they offer no warmth, and often you find yourself freezing and wishing you had something warmer to wear. Alongside this, tights are inconvenient because you always have to replace them. They rip so easily and for this reason, I barely get any wear out of them. Although this doesn't affect their comfortability, the [unsustainability of tights] (https://enbrogue.com/2019/12/01/sustainable_tights/#:~:text=So%20tights%20seem%20pretty%20wasteful,the%20water%20with%20every%20wash.) is another reason to choose your jeans over your hosiery!
