This is a really tricky one. Personally I think that a privately owned website should be able to ban/allow whoever they want. The problem is that as a society people are no longer treating twitter, Facebook etc as "just a website" but are basing their whole lives around it. In that sense they effectively become a utility like gas or water which it would not be fair to deprive someone the right of.
