As a way to reduce carbon emissions, many are looking to renewable resources as an alternative to fossil fuels. But Hope Jahren, biologist and author of “The Story of More”, says that the renewable resources we have available at the moment cannot realistically support the current energy use of the United States. To power America using wind, we would need roughly one million wind turbines, for hydro power we would need fifty Hoover dams in each state, and solar energy would require a land area the size of South Carolina entirely dedicated to solar panels. She adds that the problem is that we keep increasing our energy use (and population, which in turn increases energy use). So while we should still be working on switching the energy we do use to renewable resources, and looking for more *efficient* renewable resources, it is equally or more important to cut down on energy use, using the phrase “use less, share more”. (“Share more”refers to the need to equally distribute energy to “under-powered” countries, or for major companies to cut down on energy to give poorer countries a chance to use energy to develop their countries without further contributing to carbon emissions).

**tldr; there isn't just one solution, we need to consider making several moves at once and with developing technology if we want to fight climate change** I think there cant be any one solution, but instead a mutlilayered multilateral solution. Not only do consumers need to decrease energy usage but so do firms. At the same time we need to convert our energy sector into renewables so that we aren't dependent on any one source. You also didn't mention biofuels which are also a viable option. As I understand it the US is currently over producing some food products like corn. If we can find a way to convert some farms and agribusiness from overproduced products into a more useful use of land like biofuels, I think we can more realistically integrate the economy and the environment for a more sustainable future.
