Daylight savings is not something that benefits our lifestyles, and I see no reason to keep living with it. The most tantalizing aspect of daylight savings has to do with the hour lost in March, even though it is regained later in November. In the days that follow, we slowly, and begrudgingly alter our mental daily schedules since sunrise and sunset occur at different times. The alteration of our sense of times, Julian Ries in Healthline.com writes, has contributed to an increase in fatal car crashes by six percent due to sleep deprivation from losing an hour of sleep. Most people may be able to navigate the hour-loss of sleep but some may have to deal with others who are not. The most common reason we have daylight savings has to do with the myth that it's for the farmers to manage their crops. But in an interview with Brian Handwerk for the National Geographic, Professor Michael Downing points to a lobbying campaign by farmers that opposed daylight savings leading up to its creation in the 1960s. The real reason we adopted daylight savings is for energy savings. The idea is that, with a hour lost, we spend less time using our electricity, and conserving it for when it is daylight. Energy is saved for daylight hours, when we need to be most productive. But, in actuality, the average consumption of energy increases. Brian Handwerk points to a study conducted in Indiana, which did not adopt the concept until 2006, found out the hour-loss of sleep led to an increase in usage of air conditioning or heaters in the evening now that people had an extra hour of daylight in the evening. But the main reason the world has no reason to maintain a daylight savings concept is that people are plain tired. No one enjoys having their sleeping schedules interfered, especially by sociological practices. No one enjoys having to prioritize the time they turn in due to an hour-loss, especially if it's over a misconception that it will save energy. We like to keep our schedules tidy and simple because they are how we maintain our productivity. CITATIONS: Handwerk, Brian. “Time to Move On? I just don't like waking up and it being an hour later. Ruins my whole day :(

This year, our professional seminar changed from 1:00pm to 2:00pm without warning because of DST, and I had whiplash from trying to figure out why no one was there at 1:00pm, then suddenly remembering that the time had changed... As someone with ADHD who is already *horrible* with keeping track of time, I'm entirely put off by having to uproot my carefully-crafted schedule and rewire my brain for an entirely different timeframe, and then having to convert BACK to my original schedule only a few months later. It makes me hate life, the world, and everything in it. *DST is the devil.* I honestly want to see someone's argument that DST should stay in place. Go ahead. *Convince me.* Because my only experience with DST is complete and utter pain.

I don't think it serves a purpose anymore

I agree. It causes as many problems(maybe more) than it solved. Misplacing the darkness causes more confusion which causes disruption and accidents!
