**This is a tricky quote because the four 'factors' supplied are pretty interlinked. But it could be interpreted as saying that your sense of self/personal security is more important in determining success than any social disadvantages are.**
- I agree with this to an extent — it has been proven that people who are [born into socially disadvantageous circumstances] (https://entrepreneurshandbook.co/how-growing-up-poor-can-make-you-rich-and-successful-b46e792e49b3) can use their situations as fuel towards achieving success. Those with lower-income origins have also been shown to be more careful with their money, so more likely to enjoy long-term monetary success.
- So one way of agreeing with this statement would be to say that: if an individual has a strong sense of self as a result of their upbringing, this could be more telling of future success than if they had been born into a situation of high social advantage, but with little sense of self/internal security.
- There are a lot of definitions that make this statement difficult to easily agree/disagree with. 'Success' in the sense of purely financial security could be more closely linked with having things like financial stability on your side. But if you define 'success' as getting to a place in your life of personal achievement and accomplishment — then maybe this will be more acutely felt if you have had to overcome initial obstacles. And it may also be easier to self-motivate if your upbringing - which is very [important in terms of our brain development] (https://www.zerotothree.org/resources/2648-who-am-i-developing-a-sense-of-self-and-belonging#chapter-1702) - has fostered in you a strong sense of self.
