Spanking can be good or bad based on the way the parents present it. If your parent comes up to you and smacks you without explaining anything to you, you teach your child that adults can just hit kids. But what my parents did, is they would sit me down, have a conversation about what I did wrong, explain to me what was wrong so I wouldn't just think they were hitting me, spank me, and then say they don't want to, but they have to teach discipline and finally say that they love me. For example, when I was a kid, I would always lie to my parents. But after a couple of spankings, I have lied significantly less, and I still don't lie that often today. So if you approach spanking the right way, spanking can be used for good.

I feel that it helped. However, I would not do it forever. There is a point where you can change the discipline from spanking to no screens or something.

I believe that God is real. So I'm a Christian, was raised in a Christian home, and still have that same faith today. I'm pretty young and this is one of my first debates so don't judge too harshly.

If you are not familiar with the creation story in Genesis Chapters 1-3, it talks about how God created the universe, everything in it, and man and woman. He made them and put them in the Garden of Eden. Then God told them that if they ate from the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, they would surly die. After that, the fallen angel, or Satan, who took the form of a serpent deceived the woman into eating the fruit. The man ate from the tree shortly afterward and first humans had sinned. After that God kicked them out of the Garden of Eden and eventually they died.

That's just a back story for the arguments that I will try to counter. The first one being that if there is a God, then why do bad things happen (War, abuse, murder, etc.)? Throughtout my life different people have told me different things but I'm going to say what i think.

God is a good, perfect, just, holy, sinless being. He always has been and always will be. The reason there are bad things in the world is because of us. God never created sin. He gave us freewill, which in part we decided poorly. He gave us freewill because if He didn't, then we would be like mindless computers following the code somebody wrote. You can say, "Well He created the thing that lead to sin". But He didn't create it for the intention of things going down hill.

Another thing is that God created Satan, and Satan is evil, so that means Go can't exist because God is perfect. Again, God created an angle whom He gave freewill, and the angle decided against God.

There are a lot of other arguments to there, and I don;t have time to go through them all. But if you don't belive that there is a God, but you are open to believe there is, you should check out Lee Strobles story. He wrote the bok called, "The Case for Christ". It's also a movie, so if you don't like books you can watch the movie.
