You are right, you can have a laugh at observational comedy without it ever needing to be offensive to anyone. Stand up without hurting a soul is completely achievable!
I love old comedy programmes like Only Fools and Horses but completely understand that the things they say are of a time and we wouldn't and shouldn't talk like that now. Education and awareness has plunged us forward. We are much more polically aware for all our sakes, not just being polically correct for the sake of it. We understand the implications of the behaviour of old and are now capable of making subtle, more sophisticated comedies like, for instance; Schitts Creek.
In the NewsThe climate crisis should be treated with the same urgency (if not more) as the COVID-19 situation1 comment·Feb 15, 2021
Solving climate change would be "the most amazing thing humanity has ever done", says the billionaire founder of Microsoft. By comparison, ending the pandemic is "very, very easy", he claims.
I read this in the news this morning, said by Bill Gates.
Government's definitely need to start treating this with the priority they are, at the moment, treating the pandemic. They are equally important and both beyond my comprehension but if we all do our bit we can help a little.
Keep thinking the way you do. Change for the better is within your generations capabilities.

I really wish, with all my heart, that this could happen. That the whole of society could have, as you say, equity. There is enough in the world for everyone to have a good standard of living. I think the answer is in education and a massive overhaul of the whole system. Opportunities for everyone to work, jobs created so that everyone feels an important part of the whole. Could this ever happen in our lifetimes? I don't know but the next generation certainly have the ideas! Progress, however slow, is progress for a better world. Keep thinking the way you do!
I really agree with your comment about child rearing. Parents that choose to stay home, whether Mum or Dad, to bring up a family should be supported well by society, it's very important work and deserves support and recognition. A lot of other countries support this more than the UK does. This is all part of our way to a better society with Equity being priority.
