If this said “parents” rather than mothers I might have agreed. But as written this statement essentially reads that it is the duty of women to be the primary caregivers of children. This both diminishes the woman’s agency and choice to make her life about her own choices and pursue her own goals, as well as ignores fathers who wish to have a more active and hands on role in their child’s lives. Too many men who would like to be stay-at-home dads feel compelled to return to work due to social stigma while women feel the stigma in the other direction.

While obesity is not fully in the control of the individual the term “disease” refers to a condition caused by an active pathogen. Obesity is a result of a complex web of factors, including social and economic environment as well as genetics. It is not something that can be treated with a simple solution but requires a broad approach.

Homework for children is largely misused and overused. Piling hours of homework on a kid every night is not productive. It stresses kids out and does not prepare them for life after school. Rarely do I bring my work home, and having a break from work is absolutely essential. Homework, when used, should be an extension of the work done in class. It should not be busywork. Most of the work should be done during school hours, with homework being for those things that could not be finished during school hours.

The term “always” has me vote against. A person suffering from a terminal disease has every right to decide they do not want to put themselves or their family through the pain that comes with the late stages of the disease. When a dog or cat is suffering or in pain we allow a vet to stop their pain so they die painlessly. Why do we deny humans the same?
