**TL;DR -- I used to be obsessed with this conspiracy theory. Creepy stuff!** Enduring, indeed! I remember reading about this when I was in high school -- it fascinated me endlessly, especially since my mom is a mega fan, so I grew up with the music and stories. I remember seeing on one old website some (really low quality) images of Paul after the car crash. It freaked me out. It's an interesting theory because of the implications that the Beatles were so massive, that they knew the death of Paul might seriously affect their popularity. To think that they would cling to fame so desperately as to cover up a band member's death (and denying him a public funeral/tribute) is ghastly and pretty devious, if you ask me. I don't know whether I believe it or not (the evidence was compelling when I was a kid, but I was really impressionable back then, too), but it does make for some interesting conversation! Now I want to go back and reread it all from an adult's perspective... Brb!
