Culture Wars · TattoosTattoos, piercings, etc. should not determine professionalism in the workplaceMixed1 comment·Dec 12, 2021
I agree that tattoos and piercings should not be used to judge an employee’s value. However, in practice, they most certainly are used this way.

After a hypothetical mass shooting, we expect the news media to report on it and include an item, for balance of course, giving the murderer’s point of view????

The personal details of people involved in scientific trials are not scientific findings, nor are several other items you mention. I agree with your initial point, though.

Hopefully, as the make-up of population changes over time and a majority starts to want a united Ireland, you will still want the majority view to prevail.

In my view this depends on the level of vaccination,; in a highly vaccinated country like the UK lockdown is unnecessary.
Food and drink · How to LiveYou should always tip your waiter6 comments·Aug 2, 2021
So if you are fundamentally opposed to poor employer practices you are disqualified from eating out? Seems wrong.
It’s not the non-tipper who is treating the staff like slave labour; it’s the employer.
Since it’s the employer who sets the waiter’s pay, I believe that, yes, he does control the waiter’s income. If the employer chooses to pay the waiter an insufficient wage, and thus rely on customer goodwill to top it up to a fair level, then that is his (the employer’s) choice. He’s in control.
All of these things you describe are part of the waiter’s job. In most countries in the world they get paid a fair wage for it. If you go to a hospital emergency department, you will find nurses who take temperatures, restock supplies, wipe down beds and counters and take more abuse than I’ve personally ever seen in a restaurant. Do you tip nurses? So many other examples.
I don’t eat out in America. I don’t live in America. Don’t take it out on others that you’ve got a rotten eating out system which depends on paying unfair wages
I’m not being intellectually dishonest. I simply have a different opinion to you.

Agree that he was right to resign on the Saturday, but he should have been sacked on the Friday.

So who exactly is the gentleman calling himself Paul McCartney who is still making music, getting divorced and remarried, being generally part of public life, and looking just like Paul McCartney?
GOAT · Golf · SportsTiger Woods is the greatest ever golfer1 comment·May 20, 2021
A trailblazer indeed, and his ethnicity undoubtedly made life harder for him. But these factors do not necessarily make him the greatest of all time. He is not number 1 in terms of majors won, nor did he play in such a competitive era as did Nicklaus. These discussions, interesting as they are, almost always promote the virtues of a current, or very recent player, whether it be be Woods, Messi, Bolt, Federer or whoever. Just because they are more to the forefront of our memories doesn’t necessarily make them the GOAT. Stats can also be misleading: when Djokovic matches or surpasses Federer’s stats, does that make him the GOAT?
