**TL;DR- Throughout Jodie Whittaker’s seasons of *Doctor Who*, there have been floods of complaints that the sci-fi series is getting ‘too political’, as many newer episodes have storylines which highlight current affairs and world issues. However, this is a good thing, as viewers can be entertained, and learn something at the same time.** During season 11 and 12, many fans of the longest running sci-fi series complained on Twitter, etc. that the show is ‘too PC’, with too many episodes as metaphors for real world problems. They argue that watching a TV series such as *Doctor Who* is supposed to be an escape from reality, and should be scary rather than ‘preachy’ and ‘trying to push a “social justice warrior” agenda’ [1]. However, highlighting world problems through a family TV show is highly effective in raising awareness in parents and children alike. As James Baldock states in *Metro* (referring to an episode about Rosa Parks): > “I was one of the people who, nearly three weeks ago, was rolling my eyes at the final moments of *Rosa*, and what I perceived as an overriding preachiness...it was my other half who pointed out what I’d missed: our children had enjoyed it. And that it told a story that needed to be told, that it was a message they needed to hear, particularly in these dark and divisive days” [2]. Not only was *Rosa* a fantastic and emotional episode, enjoyed by children (as seen above), but it also spoke up on racism- what grudge could anyone possibly hold against that? It’s a good thing that things like discrimination are highlighted in popular TV shows as it helps to bring to light the fact that it is all around us. Also, if you’re complaining about *Doctor Who*’s portrayal of discrimination here being ‘too political’, then you’re likely privileged enough to ignore your privilege until you are reminded by the TV show. People say they miss the good old days where *Doctor Who* had scary monsters, but in truth, there are scary monsters in real life, and one effective way of raising awareness is to portray them through a much-loved family show that millions of people will be watching. I believe that Doctor Who has become more political which has been a good thing. However, in other respects it has not. Doctor Who cast a woman (Jodie Whittaker) as the Doctor which was a good political statement and certainly shows progression (even though it was a bit late!) However, as soon as a woman became Doctor Who, there were suddenly three regular companions that accompanied her. This is in comparison the Doctor Who actors who were men and had one regular companion throughout the different series. This perpetuates the gender binary biases that exist, despite making a political statement against these gender constructions, which is political in itself. The idea that as a man the Dr. needs one companion but as a woman the Dr. needs three reinforces the idea that a woman is less than and is capable of less than her male counterparts. People may say that this does not have anything to do with gender biases, however this is too much of a coincidence for me and undermines the political move of finally having a woman Doctor Who.

It's definitely not a good thing. TV shows shouldn't be trying to push an agenda. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and beliefs and many people disagree with the woke, leftist, authoritarian agenda. Most people just want to be allowed to live their lives without being told how to live it. Dr. Who is nothing but PC tripe now and it deserves to fail. Also Wittaker was a terrible doctor and was clearly only hired because of her fanny. Tale as old as time really.

Dr who is so bad now its practically unwatchable. Its now just a megaphone for bbc social propaganda. I've stopped watching it for years now because of how bad it has become. Being political is one thing but it's soooooo rigidly adhering to one very specific political point of view and sneers or ignores any other.
