To live is to suffer. Suffering and death are the only two absolutes in life. I'm also of the opinion that the pains of life (grief, heartache, physical pain, illnesses etc...) far outweigh any joys of life however even to those whom may think differently, the joys of life don't negate the pain. If a person is born to the ritchest family on Earth, has all his/her needs met, doesn't want for anything and is the happiest person on Earth and the only pain he/she ever feels in life is a sprained ankle then the experience of spraining their ankle is still valid. They can't just stop the pain by exchanging it with some of their happiness and that is a pain that could've been avoided if their parents didn't bring them into this world. Furthermore, were they not born, they wouldn't be missing out on any of the joys of life because they wouldn't be sentient to know what they're missing out on. The atoms floating around us don't care that they were never able to become human. If a person has children then they are selfishly exposing that child to a life of pain.
For as long as I can remember I've held the opinion that existence is suffering yet I couldn't agree more with your comment.
I hope I'm wrong. I want to be wrong, I want life to be worth living for the majority of people. But I can't believe that it is for anyone.
Sorry for the delayed reply, I kept meaning to respond but kept putting it off, ADHD is a b*tch.
I don't believe my last point was out of the blue at all. The understanding that existence is pain has directly lead to the antinatalist mindset, antinatalism being the belief that procreation is an inheritley negative act. I am myself an antinatalist as I believe that bringing life into this world, life that will inevitably suffer in one way or another, is amoungst the cruelest things people can do.
Ultimately, the absence of suffering is positive whereas the absence of joy is neutral. Therefore its better to not experience either than to experience both.

It is cruel to bring life into this world. Even if the pains of life didn't outweigh the joys, the joys still wouldn't invalidate the pains. The pain and suffering a person feels in life is still valid no matter how happy and privileged they are outside of that suffering and that suffering needn't have happened if the individuals parents hadn't selfishly decided to bring life into this world.

I'm genuinley offended that anyone would hold such an opinion. You can see my comment higher up if you wanna know my full opinion on this but in short, if you don't want to adopt then you shouldn't have children at all.
Procreation is one of the most cruel and selfish acts a person can commit.
Evolution · Meaning of LifeWe exist to procreateFor1 comment·Nov 10, 2021
I strongly disagree with reproduction however it is a basic instinct for all sentient beings. Many animals will sacrifice themselves in order to procreate. It is the fundamental purpose of life and it's quite discusting really. Why anyone would suffer through life to a point where they're able to reproduce and then think to themselves 'I know, I' ll bring more life into this world so it can suffer as I have' I'll never understand. We should be giving vasectomies and hysterectomies on demand to everyone.
Capital Punishment · Death PenaltyNo one under 25 should receive the Death PenaltyFor1 comment·Sep 14, 2021
I strongly agree on the grounds that I think no one should recieve the death penalty. It is a barbaric and unjust act that prioritises vengeance over justice.
Furthermore, you either have faith that criminals can be rehabilitated into society or you don't. If you don't, then why wouldn't you advocate for all prisoners to be executed and alleviate the strain on the taxpayer? If you do and still chose to execute some criminals then you're chosing to kill someone over rehabilitating them. That's barbaric.
British History · Ireland · UK PoliticsIreland should be unitedAgainst1 comment·Sep 10, 2021
Northern Ireland is United, with Britain, by choice. There was a refferendum and the people chose to stay.
The Republic took advantage of a weakened UK following WWI and waged a bloody war, killing many innocent people in their numerous terrorist attacks and endded up seceding. I can't say Britain didn't have it coming, as corrupt and abhorrent as the IRA were and are, the Empire wasn't historically friendly to the Irish.
That said, Northern Ireland opted to remain part of the UK and that's how it should remain. Ireland is an Island with two countries on it. Any Southern Irish wanting to unite the island is simply an imperialist.
If Ireland and Northern Ireland are to be united again, it should be by the Republic re-joining the Union.

I doubt that they even contribute to the disparities at all. Men and women are different, it's not rocket science. Given the free will to chose their own path in life, men and women will make different choices.
So long as they all have the same opportunity to pursue a career (outside of the military of course) then the demographic outcome is irrelevant.

I'd have had a much easier ride through society and would've been treatet better and had fewer expectations placed on me but the biological dowsides to being a woman are not something I take lightly. Honestly, after seeing women in my life suffer with heavy periods and endometriosis, I think that I'd rather be a man in spite of all the risks and hardships it entails.

I don't know how to adequately argue my point here without being overly emotive.
Art is subjective to the individual and if someone wants to find beauty in a solid red canvas then power to them.
However there needs to be a collective standard if artistic media is to mean anything and if someone gets paid millions for sticking the afore mentioned solid red canvas on a museum wall then the artist community on the whole has gone doolally.

With good reason. Feminism exists on, and is centered around the concept that women have it worse than men in society. Feminism is a supremacist movement through and through.

Abortion · Eternals · Political SpectrumAbortion, when the woman’s life is not threatened, should always be illegalAgainst4 comments·Aug 1, 2021
Life sucks. Why make it worse for someone by bringing them into a world where even their parents don't want them. Abortion is a mercy killing.
I have the cognative ability and worldy understanding to make that decision for myself. A foetus does not. Besides, if someone was to put me out of my misery then that would only perpetuate heartache and misery throughout those who love me. It would cause more misery than it would solve and where would that end? You wanna kill all the people who love me? Well what about the people who love them? That mindset would see the world eradicated in less than a year.
It's one thing to take a foetuses life, it's quite another to take a fully formed humans.
Also, where I'm from suicide is the biggest cause of death amoungst young people. How much higher do those rates need to be for you to accept that life is suffering?
I'm not denying the unborn child anything.
That child will never develop the understanding to know what it's missing out on. Do you think the atoms that float around us care that they missed out on becoming a human? No, they have no thought or cognition. Therefore the unborn child will not be missing out on anything by being aborted.
If it's not aborted then it will suffer a life of pain, grief, heartache, illness, war, draught and all the other things associated with life alongside the fact that it's born to parents that never even wanted it. How can anyone condone such an act? Do you think the joys of life outweigh the pains?
As for those who are alone, they have the cognitive ability to decide for themselves if they want to continue or not and for that matter, I think suicide should be legal.
For those who cannot make that decision (ie: they're in a coma, they're braindead, they've suffered trauma which damages their cognition to a point beyone repair) I fully support euthanasia.
Surely the only people who would find this controversial are people who want to perpetuate suffering, right?
Well you're entitled to your wrong opinion.
Look, life begins before birth. An egg cell is a living organism, a sperm cell is a living organism. The question is, when do they become human.
Well at the moment of conception all that persons blueprints are laid out.
The embryo already has a pre determined eye colour, skin colour, predisposition to being fat/thin, tall/short, smart/thick. A life becomes a human life at the moment of conception.
Calling it a child may be a stretch, it's more vulnerable than a child or even a baby. But it is most certainly a human. A person.

This is true for all races. A black man is less prone to skin disorders and cancers than a white man. That's a superior trait.
A white man is less prone blood disorders and is more likely to survive a noval pnumatic epidemic, like Covid-19 for instance.
I don't consider it racist to acknowledge that there are genetic differences in people of different races.
It is worded rather suspiciously. I guess it's open to interpretation. I don't think that any singular race is superior to all others as a general rule. We all have something to bring to the table.
It's not. It's simply recycling questions from the political compass, an online quiz designed to predict a persons political leanings.

Culture WarsWhen someone is offended, it is the responsibility of the offenderAgainst1 comment·Jun 26, 2021
Absolutley not! A person has no control how someone reacts to what they say, a persons reactions are their own.
No matter what you say, no matter how innocent a statement you make, someone somewhere would be offended by it. Unless you're a mind reader, you have no control over how someone reacts to what you say.
It's the intent that matters. If a person says something in the hopes that the recipient takes offence then that individual is a dick. However, he's a dick regardless of how the recipient reacts. The recipient could, and should, just not take offence. That is the best course of action. His reactions are his responsibility and he's denighed the other party the satisfaction on knowing the recipient was offended.

Well what is gender. Is it a reflection of a persons biological sex or a masculinity/femininity spectrum? If it's a spectrum then how many genders are there? Everyone falls on different areas of that spectrum. There are plenty of cis women who are more masculine than the average man. There are also plently of cis men who are more feminine than your average woman. Do we have different gender identites for every person? At that point gender becomes obsolete.
Do we break down the spectrum into different sections? Well that what if someone identifying as a cis man falls more on the feminine side than a demi-girl (or whatever a semi-feminine man is called). Is the cis man wrong about who he is?
Either gender correlates with sex or gender is obsolete.
No, the idea of gender being a spectrum should be stricken from society and gender should remain a reflection of ones biological sex.
