TL;DR Making your bed in the morning is not pointless as it is proven to have serious mental health and productivity benefits.

In 2017, William H. McRaven, wrote a book regarding this topic called ‘Make Your Bed: Little Things That Can Change Your Life... And Maybe the World’, highlighting the importance of making your bed in the morning and suggesting that it in fact sets you up for success. He states that the simple acknowledgement of making the bed is a small success to begin the day with and only sets you up to encourage more successes throughout the day. Furthermore, another logical explanation to the importance of making the bed is the common phrase: ‘Tidy Home, Tidy Mind’. By organising the bed in the morning, it helps to clear your mind for the day ahead and thus increase productivity, it is therefore an important ritual to get into the habit of doing.

TL;DR – It really is such a personal thing to make your bed in the morning. Knowing that it's all ready for the next night of sleep is not only comforting, but natural for the look of your room, which is hopefully your personalized space.

Having made your bed in the morning allows you to immediately get into bed later in the day without rustling sheets to get comfortable. Instead of having to readjust everything and exhaust more energy doing so, you can more easily situate yourself to get ready to sleep.

Not only are the mental health benefits positive, but a made bed can make an entire room look more put together. Making your bed allows you to clearly see things that may actually be messy and unorganized without immediately noticing the largest thing in your room. Your cute little plaid bedspread will look amazing too.

Making your bed in the morning creates the "foot-in-the-door" concept in social psychology. This means that the first task of the day has already been accomplished. This is a major motivational factor because it creates a domino effect in terms of productivity.

Unlike popular belief, making your bed in the morning is not just "OCD." It is an essential part of sleep hygiene that regulates the sleep cycle and quality of sleep. Studies have also proven that it reduces stress and betters mood.

Keeping your bed tidy and made also adds to the overall aesthetic of the room. A clean and tidy room is advantageous for a clear mind and helps critical thinking and empathizing. It also helps greatly with finding new perspectives.

Making your bed in the morning is an entirely bad idea.)

Since the beginning of time parents have been demanding their children make the bed. It’s habit forming: countless studies tell us that making the bed in the morning establishes a routine and encourages organisation.

The benefits to bed making are felt more in the evening than they are in the day. The danger, of course, is how attractive a made bed is. For many of us, the work doesn’t end the moment we step foot over the threshold- more so now than ever. A made bed is attractive; seductive, persuasive. We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life is rounded with a sleep. Lay down for a moment and remember that those musts and needs and wants are transient-and why not live for pleasure? Lie down on that perfect bed, and forget entirely that you were meant to pick the kids up at 6pm.

Live in disarray. It makes it impossible to waste time relaxing. There’s a revolting adage to bear in mind, however. In much the same way that you should always wear clean pants on the off chance you might need to go to A&E; you would probably save yourself a lot of embarrassment in the event of unexpected visitors if you did make the bed. Having to explain to the police in event of burglary that actually, most of the room is as you left it that morning does not bear thinking about. That being said if a burglary did occur, the burglar might just give it up as a bad job. Swings and roundabouts.

If you suffer from a guilty conscience comfort yourself with the knowledge that although there may well be benefits for your mental health, the same may not necessarily be true of your physical health. Dust mites love your sweat and skin- which your bed is inevitably full of. Though it is unclear whether they definitely contribute to allergies, the thought of millions of microscopic creatures creeping and crawling all over your mattress is hideous enough. When you pull that duvet down in the morning, you tuck those little bugs in and protect them from air and light. They thrive. That alone is reason enough not to make your bed.

Waste of time when its going to get messed up again the next time you see it...

TLDR: Making your bed is disgusting and unhealthy, according to science
When you make your bed, that is, completely cover your matress with your smoothed out bedsheets, you create a haven for bacteria, fungi and dust mites.
The trapped space of warm, probably slightly moist air where you just slept, is a haven for all kinds of health-damaging stuff. And if you make your bed in the morning, they have all day before you return to your bed again to germinate and grow and whatever nastyness takes place.
Leaving it in disarray enables the matress and underside of your bedsheets to "breathe" and dry out, ultimately making it hygenic, better smelling and less gross. https://www.lifehack.org/317021/scientists-tell-you-why-making-your-bed-disgusting-and-bad-for-your-health

It sure is a nice habit to "order" your spaces in the morning, I do that too, but I do that in the other rooms, like the kitchen, living room and bathroom, and it gets me active in the morning.
So, for this reason I think making our beds should be adviced against.
