When prices go up we should be able to afford them, so minimum wage needs to follow the trend of the market.

• The market is closely related to inflation. When inflation goes up, the market recognises this sending everyday prices either up or down. Your bread prices, your fuel prices, everything that you pay for is controlled and related to the market.
• So, the minimum pay should be too. When the prices go up, so should the minimum wage. When the minimum wage comes down, this will be because the market has caused the prices to come down. Nobody should not be able to afford to live because inflation has caused prices to increase. The minimum wage should adapt to this and make sure that everyone keeps well fed.
• I am certainly no economist but this seems like a logical and intuitive way to make sure that everyone can still afford to live.

Businesses would jump at the chance to further exploit workers and reduce the minimum wage in the name of maximising profit.

• A 'market' has no ability on its own to set automatic standards such as minimum wage. It would be decided by people, business owners, who run the market.
• These people do not have the interests of the people at heart: their priority is money, and could not be trusted to adapt the minimum wage during times of inflation to ensure their workers can afford a good quality of life.
• Rather, they would set it at the bare minimum in order to maximise profits.
• We cannot place the responsibility to determine what would be a fair wage with people who are focused on reducing costs and maximising profits.
• It would lead to slave labour, as businesses would exploit workers and we would not be paid enough to survive in the name of profit.
• Allowing the 'market' to set the minimum wage would only decrease it, never increase it.
• If the minimum wage was determined elsewhere such as in the system we have now, business owners still have the power and freedom to set their own wages: so long as they are above the minimum wage.
• They can still choose to raise their worker's wages during inflation, yet this often does not occur. This is a telling sign that we should not put more power into corporate bodies particularly regarding the determination of a minimum wage.
