I find most cishet men aren’t even feminist in name. Unfortunately many people, men especially, are still apprehensive to adopt the term ‘feminist’.

With good reason. Feminism exists on, and is centered around the concept that women have it worse than men in society. In a society where men are seen as, and treated as disposable, a society where men will be tossed to one side if it's deemed convenient for women, why would any man identify with feminism?
Feminism is a supremacist movement through and through.

**often, cishet men speak over women and attempt to appear feminist while their actions are contradictory.**
- there have been instances of predatory men using the female gaze to their advantage especially online. they present themselves as safe for women by painting their nails etc while not actually being interested in these activities and only wanting to attract women. while of course some men genuinely embrace their femininity, there are those who have used this to their advantage.
- benevolent sexism is often confused for respecting women. some men believe they are being feminist and "looking out for women" by telling them how they must accommodate to be safe around men rather than checking the men they know on their behaviour.
- in a time where many people are chronically online it can be hard to see outside of the echo chamber we create unconsciously. members of this generation often feel like it is more progressive than it is due to the online presence they create when really there is much work to do. this is often a result of cishet men continuing to thrive in a flawed system.
- [when it comes to understanding how sex and gender function, we still need a man to explain it to us.](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/voices/feminism-transpolitics-liberal-male-commentators-sexism-gender-roles-a7649546.html%3famp) it seems that no matter how hard women work for liberation a man will still tell them how to do it and this is evidence of cishet feminist "allies" speaking over the marginalused rather than uplifting them.
- in addition, [It is easier for a man to add his voice to the feminist narrative than to give up privilege for the upliftment of women.](https://www.thehindu.com/thread/reflections/why-men-cannot-be-feminists/article17427014.ece)
