It’s not exactly true, though we may wish it was. Yes, PHYSICALLY words cannot harm you, but mentally, and emotionally, they can - and in most situations, they will. Harmful and hateful words can scar and haunt people like a curse. Like a wound that can reopen just by a single cold look. So, no, sticks and stones can break your bones, just like words still can hurt you. Just in a different way.

This is a fable, through and through. Words can indeed be hurtful. Words are quite powerful. They have caused others to end their lives. Or, led nations to commit atrocities against a certain people group. They say the pen is mightier than the sword. So is the mouth.
