I uh...
It is.
Is this an American thing? Not considering Psychology as legitimate? In the UK its well respected as a (Social) science.
Its not a Life Science or a Physical Science. Still a science.

Its a good meme but people really drank the kool-aid on this one in a sobering way. Its a FASCINATING sociological case study on extremism, propaganda, and the internet.

The free market optimises for financial success. Monetary value does not directly correlate with fluffy human factors like heightened feelings of wellbeing (i.e - stimulation and happiness from experiencing arts & culture), and especially it doesn't bear a relationship with social constructs like traditions & history. Wanting to feel connected to our ancestors via history is a deeply ingrained human trait, one everyone agrees with, but the market doesn't allow it to self-sustain without help.

Curious to see the international divides on this one. I imagine countries where land is abundant so the scarcity of land hasn't dawned on most of the population (USA) will have far more 'Against' voters than a country like the UK where land is incredibly scarce.
In such countries with serious land issues, the majority of the population face the prospect of never being able to dream of owning land, despite being otherwise wealthy people. Even a top 5% earner ($100k+ earner straight out of University) faces the prospect of only owning property in their 30s and that property being a tiny apartment. Contrast that experience with the lives of Baby Boomers and folks from large countries and I'd bet on a shift against seeing land as a commodity.
