id argue thats a disorder of sex development. They tend to be more one way or the other E.G having non-functioning testes which is usually discovered through puberty. theres also specific genetic mutations we can link to being intersex such as a mutation of the FGFR2 gene. Theres also links to pesticides from several studies but i don't believe its the primary cause.

Yes I agree, intersex is a disorder rather than another sex as such. It is a totally true statement to say that human beings have two legs. But of course there are plenty who have less than two and some who even have [three](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Lentini).

I suppose it's about how we are reading the statement then - I would consider it the equivalent of saying "there are only people with two legs" in your example.

I'd consider this more of genetic variation within the sex rather than a separate sex itself. There are only two types of sex chromosomes: X and Y. They are almost always correctly matched together (XX or XY) but there are cases of a genetic mishap and an XXY, XYY, XXX, or something else. My general thought is: Presence of one or more Y chromosomes = male No presence of X chromosomes = female I don't think there are more than two sexes. People with one of these combinations (not XX or XY) may have atypical physical, hormonal, and mental features and be at higher risk for some types of diseases but this shouldn't be grounds for discrimination.

There are individuals born that are not XX, or XY as far as chromosomes go. That means there are more than 2.

TLDR yes their are only two sexes, but their is more than two genders. - the chromosomes that science has identified are. XX, XY, - science has also identified intersex people with discrepancies in their external and internal genitals - me personally i believe that gender is a social construct which is why i identify as non-binary. -but i always respect others' choice to identify however they want. - i dont however support when others try to police the way that i or anyone else identifies in the name of science and/or religion -especially when science says that their are more than just xx, xy chromosomes [see intersex persons]
