Education · Eternals · School UniformsSchool Uniforms are a good idea.Against1 comment·Jan 22, 2021
I wore uniforms from kindergarten through eighth grade. Uniforms did have its upsides where it created more equality between students since everyone wore the same thing. However, I believe uniforms stifled any individuality and made it difficult to learn how to express ourselves.
Clothing is a way for people to portray themselves to the world, and school without uniforms gives students a chance to figure out what their style is. Someone who knows their style are more comfortable and confident in the world around them.
Schools should not have uniforms so students can have an environment to learn how to express themselves.
COVID-19 · In the NewsWe should host ballroom dances when the pandemic is over1 comment·Jan 22, 2021
I believe we should host ballroom dances when the pandemic is over.
Netflix’s series, Bridgerton, insisted a craze across social platforms for Regency era fashion and customs. Tiktok was filled with people dressing in corsets and others creating a Bridgerton musical.
Not only is there an interest in this era, once people are able to leave their homes and gather again in groups, there is going to be a need for more social gatherings.
If we host classic balls, there will be a chance for people to display fine pieces in their wardrobe which they may not be able to do elsewhere. There have been videos on Tiktok of people wearing prom dresses and tuxes to the grocery store, and even more videos of people making these types of clothes. Male identifying people can display their most dashing tuxes, and female identifying can bring out the elaborate gowns that have been sitting in the back of the closet.
These balls could be themed as well. They could be simple, dress fancy. They could also be masquerades. The possibilities are endless.
If these balls were to use the same social cues as they did in the Regency era (minus the lack of women and people of color rights), we could hint back to our time in social distancing by having couples not dare to be closer than six feet from each other.
Perhaps I hold this opinion because I have been binging period dramas, but I believe, once the pandemic is over, it would be amazing to have the chance to twirl around a ballroom in a gown
Donald Trump · Impeachment · In the NewsTrump should still be impeached despite leaving officeFor1 comment·Jan 22, 2021
President Donald Trump should still be impeached, even though the Senate vote occurs after he left office. Impeaching Trump will keep him from running for office again.
He is accused of inciting the riot on Jan. 6, 2021, where his supporters broke into the capitol, and this impeachment will be his second. He needs to be impeached so he will not be able to run for president in 2024.
The United States can not survive another four years under Trump. The last four years, we have had the highest number of coronavirus deaths, an economic crisis, and the largest divide between people. Any emergency or crisis that came to this country was met with a denial of its existence and strategic moves that seemed to only benefit the one percent. For a long time, it felt that there was nothing that could be done about the injustices occurring in this country.
America can not let that happen again. Trump needs to be impeached
