Afghanistan · In the News · TalibanBlame for the Taliban victory lies with the Afghan armyAgainst1 comment·Aug 19, 2021
The Afghan army did what it deemed necessary to avoid violence and bloodshed and they are not to blame for the Taliban victory.
I do not have any definitive arguments but it seems naive of people and the USA government to think that Afghan citizens and soldiers are willing to fight US wars and conflicts. Why should Afghans lay down their lives fighting the Taliban if the USA has mostly created the problem of the Taliban? Now they are retreating and suddenly the entire country needs to fend for themselves?
The USA invaded Afghanistan in a sad attempt to project dominance and action in a post 9/11 world. They went after Osama Bin Laden. OBL was in Pakistan. Pakistan was a US ally. Very embarrassing. Long story short, the US military shouldn't have been in Afghanistan.
Wars don't create democracies, not a single war has ever created a democracy. Citizens create democracies.
Culture Wars · SJW · VictimhoodToday's culture celebrates victimhood1 comment·Jul 8, 2021
Very good points, the term victim is thrown around loosely these days. A true victim is a victim of crime, abuse or neglect and probably vulnerabel. I do not understand how victim mentality became a term to disavow a political point.
Culture Wars · ObesityObesity is a diseaseAgainst1 comment·Jun 24, 2021
If you classify something as a disease, you are saying that that disease is making you sick. Obesity does not make you sick in the same way that a virus or a bacteria does, nor does it make you sick in the same way that alcohol or cigarettes do. At most, obesity is a symptom of a disease, not the disease itself. People who are suffering from a disease may display obesity as a symptom. Moreover, obesity and body weight carry social meaning, so there needs to be a precise definition of what we consider to be obese.
Children · Eternals · Parenting · Political Spectrum · Punishment · SpankingGood parents sometimes have to spank their childrenAgainst1 comment·Jun 24, 2021
People that spank children reinforce the idea that adult people can hit children for their own good, without anyone taking the time to explain children what is happening. Children do not learn by repeated spanking. Repeated spanking is a form of child abuse.
Culture Wars · Mental Health · Psychology · Society · WellnessWe spend too much time talking about mental healthAgainst1 comment·Jun 24, 2021
The day I have to hear about everyone's deteriorating mental health 24/7, is the day we talk too much about mental health. The day we have breaking news about mental health, like the breaking news in the toxic 24/7 news cycle, is the day we are talking too much about mental health. Today is not that day. THIS DAY WE TALK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
